Many people believe that Roman Gladiators were people being paid to entertain the public by fighting each other and wild animals. Although the fighting each other and wild animals is correct, not all of the rest is.
The Roman Gladiators were slaves, forced to fight as a punishment! The people choosing the fighters and warriors would make sure they were strong, skilled and stealthy. If they were not one of these three things, they would either by slaughtered, or made to work again as a slave with minimum food and drink and no pay.
Gladiators, in Latin, means clearly: 'Fighters'. They would obviously not be a free man, judging from still being a slave, but they would be more free than the slaves the men picking cast off. They would be often surrounded in high-class or authority Romen women, who would sexually entertain the Gladiators. If the Gladiators lost the fight, they would be killed by their opponent, but the people who won would be rewarded with a feast, and a higher rank of Gladiator.
